Stepmother > "Girls! Girls! Above all: self control." >in sickly sweet cultured voice

>enter Cinderella, interrupting music lesson

>sound of stepmother crashing down her fingers on piano in loss of self control, yells "Yes!?" in impatient tone

I so often feel like I should tell my children to do as I say, not as I do. Some days ya just try, try again :)

  1. yes, so typical. how are the children to learn anything from their mothers? :) try, try again. if they see us trying and struggling hopefully they will try too? here's to hoping!

  2. i once had a friend, whose mother did her a huge disservice by giving her the impression that she did everything right. her mother never got openly frustrated, never got upset with her father, etc. this poor friend of mine, grew up and got married. she thought her marriage was a loss because she didn't always get along with her husband, (and her parents never fought!) and she constantly beat herself up, because she had shortcomings. (her mom could do it all!)
we mothers need to make mistakes, and then pick ourselves back up, in front of our children, and try again.

    this is all.

    :)
